Effective Date: July 1, 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of FranchiseComplaints.org (“Site”), including the submission of complaints, reviews, articles, photographs, documents, and other materials.
User Submissions and Copyright Assignment
Ownership and authority
By submitting any complaint, review, article, photograph, document, or other material (“Submission”) to FranchiseComplaints.org, you represent and warrant that:
- You created the Submission and own the copyrights in its original content, or you have written authority from the copyright owner to transfer those rights;
- The Submission has not been copied from another source;
- You have not previously assigned or exclusively licensed the copyrights being transferred; and
- You have identified any quotations, photographs, documents, trademarks, public records, or other materials owned by third parties.
Assignment of copyright
In consideration for access to the FranchiseComplaints.org submission service and the Site Owner’s review and potential publication of your Submission, you hereby irrevocably assign, transfer, and convey to Lilac Data LLC, owner and operator of FranchiseComplaints.org (“Site Owner”), all right, title, and interest in and to the original copyrightable expression contained in your Submission.
This assignment includes all copyrights and exclusive rights provided by applicable law, including the rights to reproduce, edit, modify, adapt, publish, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, license, sublicense, register, protect, and enforce the Submission.
The assignment applies throughout the world for the full duration of the copyright, including any renewals and extensions, subject to any statutory rights that cannot legally be waived or transferred.
Copyright enforcement
The assignment expressly includes all assignable accrued and future claims, causes of action, remedies, damages, settlements, and proceeds arising from any unauthorized reproduction, publication, distribution, display, or other infringement of the Submission.
The Site Owner may register the copyright, issue copyright or DMCA takedown notices, grant licenses, pursue infringement claims, negotiate settlements, and retain any resulting proceeds or recoveries.
Electronic acceptance and signature
By deliberately submitting material through FranchiseComplaints.org, you affirmatively accept these Terms and intend your act of submitting the material to constitute your electronic signature to this Copyright Assignment.
You acknowledge that the words “hereby assign, transfer, and convey” are intended to create an immediate transfer of copyright ownership and not merely a promise to transfer ownership at a later date.
The Site Owner may retain the Submission, submission date and time, IP address, browser information, unique submission identifier, and the version of these Terms in effect when the Submission was received as evidence of this agreement.
Publication and editing
The Site Owner may publish, decline to publish, edit, format, excerpt, anonymize, categorize, remove, restore, license, or otherwise use a Submission in its discretion. Submission does not guarantee publication.
The copyright assignment remains effective if the Submission is edited, anonymized, declined, or later removed from public view.
Excluded materials
This assignment applies only to copyrightable material owned by the submitting party. It does not transfer rights in facts, ideas, government records, public-domain materials, third-party content, or other material the submitting party does not own.
If any submitted material cannot legally be assigned, you grant the Site Owner a perpetual, worldwide, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free, nonexclusive license to reproduce, edit, publish, distribute, display, archive, and otherwise use that material as permitted by law.
Additional documentation
You agree to execute additional documents reasonably necessary to confirm, document, register, or enforce the copyright assignment.
Prospective application
This Copyright Assignment applies only to Submissions received on or after the Effective Date stated above. It does not retroactively transfer ownership of material submitted before that date.
